The Holy Spirit

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me." St. John 15:26 The Holy Spirit is our constant companion and our Divine Teacher whose number one assignment is pointing us to Jesus. When we have learned that lesson, we will have pleased the Teacher, received power in our lives, and fulfilled the plan of the Father.
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8 Too long have we tried to produce on our own power and have discovered that we have the wrong connection and the lines were down. We must be filled with the Spirit or be content with human frustration.
"And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise anoint him, for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward." 1 Samuel 16:12,13 The Spirit of the Lord upon a man is still the best credential that he can have...and probably the only one that God recognizes.
"And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones, and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fails not." Isaiah 58:11 God guides us through the inspiration of His Word, the inner impression of His presence and through circumstances that He has created or allowed. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. Let Him!
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" St. Luke 11:13 With the thought in mind that God is surely as concerned and capable as you are in also giving you His best, simply open your heart and receive. "No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
"And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." St. John 1:33 There is no spiritual experience outside of the Saviour.
"And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me." Ezekiel 2:2 When the Spirit of God enters the human life, It becomes the vessel through which God speaks and lives are touched.
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8 It is God's Holy Spirit that gives us something to say and the power to go with it. How futile to keep struggling in the flesh. Holy Spirit, fill us with Your presence and send us out with Your power in the service of God, in Jesus name. Amen.
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Romans 8:26, 27 Invite the Holy Spirit to intercede for you and through you. You will discover it is a passing gear and an overdrive in your prayer life far beyond what you ever dreamed possible.
"Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." Zechariah 4:6 Simply turn it over to the Holy Spirit. He takes the strain and suspense out of it all. Oh Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name and for the glory of God, move in and through us and do what Jesus would be doing if He were here in person. In His name, Amen.
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit." Joel 2:28, 29 We can see the evidence of that day in our time and, though many cannot understand it, none of us can deny it. Holy Spirit, breathe on us and empower us to evangelize the world in our time. In Jesus' name, Amen.
". . . Not by might, nor by power; but by my spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts." Zechariah 4:6 We are guilty of depending on our own working and wisdom, and not depending upon the Holy Spirit and His power. If we would be happy in our Christian experience, we need to relieve ourselves of the strain of so many works of our own and submit all to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
"And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times..." Judges 13:25 Don't be satisfied with an occasional moving of the Spirit when we can have showers of blessing all the time. The anointing of the Spirit requires an ignoring of self."
"Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power." Zechariah 4:6 No program, project or person can ever take the place of the Holy Spirit. The sooner the church replaces the strain of pushing with the Spirit's leading, the easier our task will be.
"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endured with power from on high." St. Luke 24:49 The Lord never meant for us to work for Him under our own power. Our lack of success can probably be traced to the fact that we leaned on self and ignored the Spirit.
"Quench not the Spirit." I Thessalonians 5:19 There is no substitute for the Spirit of God. "If any man have not the Spirit of God, he is none of his."
"The Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say." St. Luke 12:12 Rely on the Holy Spirit. He has both the answer and the authority of the Father. "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world."
"And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Exodus 33: 14 The Lord's power, pardon and presence is available.
"Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye." Acts 7:51 This is part of a sermon that needs repeating often. It is a dangerous thing to resist the Holy Spirit. "My spirit shall not always strive with man." "Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your heart."
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22, 23 Here are the fruits of the Spirit, the outgrowth of the indwelling of His great presence. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." Corinthians 2:12 Thank God for all the promises we have in Him. Jesus made them all possible. The Spirit of God makes them all known.
"For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;... To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another diverse kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues." Corinthians 12:8, 10 Here are the gifts of the Spirit, given to be shared as starters for all else that God has for those who open up themselves to be used of Him.
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Romans 8:26 When we pray in the Spirit, we get to the heart of the matter! Holy Spirit, take our thoughts and our tongues and pray through us that we may touch God with our real need in Jesus' name, Amen.
"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." I John 2:27 Stop looking at what is going on around you and draw upon the strength of His Spirit who lives within you. "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world."
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Romans 8: 11 Look at the power of the Holy Spirit! And if you are a Christian, He is in you to bring to pass all the powerful things that God meant for you to have.
