Words of Warning

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" St. Mark 8:36,37 An eternity without God and the good things He has prepared is a terrible price to pay for having our own way over things that will soon pass away. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
"...and God is angry with the wicked every day." Psalm 7:11 He is a God of love, compassion, and long-suffering, but He is also a God of judgment. You cannot forever trample under foot the Word of God, the stern commandments of God, reject His Son, and go unpunished.
"Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." St. Matthew 24:44 A person who is not ready to die is not ready to live. A person who is not ready to meet his Master in His second coming cannot fully appreciate the fact that He came the first time.
"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." Deuteronomy 5: 11 Think on the holiness of God. Dwell on the power He has over the world and you, and let the mind of the Master be the master of your mind. Remember, "His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear."
"...It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27 That we must appear to account for the way we have lived this life is a truth that we must all face. How we live and how we die will determine our eternal future.
"Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me..." St. John 7:34 Man pays a terrible price for his pride. "Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12 The world's greatest surprise may be at our doorstep. He has not said in vain, "I shall come again." Even so, come the Lord Jesus.
"But they made light of it..." St. Matthew 22:5 Humanity has never been the same. The seriousness of the invitation did not register with them then, and the majority of our day do not see the tragedy of their refusal in accepting the Saviour. Decide now. A man may be almost saved, yet entirely lost. Don't make light of the invitation. Eternity is a long time to remember that you rejected it.
"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" St. Matthew 16:26 Nothing on earth is worth keeping you out of Heaven. Count on the cost!
"Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day." Deuteronomy 8:11 The man or the nation who forgets God will be reminded. Keep God in mind and His work at heart.
"I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken and the other left." Luke 17:34,35 Will you be among the missing or the misinformed? Read your Bible. Jesus said, "I will come again."
"...Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come." St. John 7:33,34 Jesus is saying: "Some day you will want me and I will not be available." "My Spirit will not always strive with man." "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near."
"Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end." Deuteronomy 8:16 If you have moved on to bigger things, as you see it, you would be wise to remember who took care of you in the wilderness. Otherwise, you may have another look at it!
"Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." St. Luke 21:10,11 More signs that His coming could be soon. When you read the Bible today, you would think that it was written yesterday. Jesus said, "In such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh."
"For thou shalt worship no other god; for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." Exodus 34:14 Look out for the little gods. They have a way of growing, and no matter how small, they can separate us from the true and living God.
"Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day." Deuteronomy 8:11 Don't forget to remember from whence you came, and who has brought you to where you are, and where you are going.
"I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together." St. Luke17:34-37 Here is a picture of the final day on earth of people who will probably have plans of what all they are going to do for the Lord, and others who were going to get right with the Lord. Do it now. "No man knoweth the day nor the hour when the Son of man cometh."
"...There shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust." Acts 24:15 Make no mistake about it. We all must appear before our Maker. You may have all the answers now, but how will it be when you stand before Him? Live today as though tomorrow you would face Him.
"...How is it that ye do not discern this time?" St. Luke 12:56 If we fail to heed the signs, we will soon lose our way. These are days of signs and wonders, the greatest wonder being that we fail to see it.
"Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1:11 The greatest surprise this world has ever known could be just around the corner. "In such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh." Jesus said, "I will come again."
"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." St. Luke 12:48 God will require of nations and individuals a final accounting of what we did with what He gave us.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." St. John 3:16 Here in the Word of God is the world's greatest news coupled with the saddest news. The future of every person is dependent on whether he ignores it or embraces it.
"I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not." Jude 5 Don't presume on the patience and long-suffering of the Lord. "My Spirit will not always strive with man."
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." II Peter 3:3,4 This is the day of the vocal unbelievers. The day of victory and vengeance of the Lord cannot be far away. Behold, He cometh. When ye shall see these things come to pass, look up.
"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:15 For the man who is trying to make a name here, it is good to give some serious thought as to where it will appear in the life to come.
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand." Joel 2:1 It is the responsibility of every believer to sound the alarm. It is up to every man, on his own, to get up and answer the call. Don't turn the alarm off and go back to sleep, or let it run down. "My Spirit will not always strive with man."
"Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel." Amos 4:12 The most sobering thought in this life is that the next we must account to Him who has made it. Where will you spend eternity? How are you spending life here?
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7 A person has to be careful of the seed that he sows. The day of harvest will come.
"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." Revelation 22:19 People who alter the Word to their liking will have to give an account to the Lord.
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." Revelation 20:12 Never forget that we are judged by our works, but saved by His grace; and we must accept Him as Saviour or face Him as Judge.
"And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the Lord done this thing unto thee this day." I Samuel 28: 17,18 Any time we get too busy to listen or too big to obey, the Lord always has someone waiting to take our place.
"I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord. Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end." Ezekiel 35:4,5 All mankind must remember that God cannot be pushed too far. He who is capable of great love is also capable of sure punishment.
"Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake is upon them." Psalm 106:29 Perhaps we have yet to see the final cost of many of our achievements and the misuse of the great knowledge that God has entrusted to us.
"And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." St. Luke 16:23 One minute after you have missed Heaven, you will know that hell is no myth. The only way out is in Him. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."
"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." Exodus 20:7 God is not taking lightly the language involving His name and bringing reproach to His cause.
"Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it." Ezekiel 22:14 The judgment of God is no joke! Any nation or anyone who backs themselves into a corner, through open rebellion and unbelief, has good cause to be concerned. Jesus said, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." St. Matthew 25: 13 We are told not to set the time, but to make use of what we have left. In such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh. "Even so, come Lord Jesus."
"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows." St. Mark 13:8 If you have missed the news, catch it in the Bible. You will probably be out in front! Thy Word is truth.
"Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is." St. Mark 13:33 Time is in God's hands. Talents are in our hands. We ought to use them wisely before time runs out. The time is short.
"The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence... And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." Genesis 6:11,13 God warns from the past what we can expect in the future. What they saw in the beginning, we are experiencing in the present. But look up and get ready. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the coming of the Son of Man.
"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." St. Luke 12:40 When we least expect Him, Jesus Christ, unannounced, will come back to take away every believer. If it happened tonight, where would you be tomorrow?
"The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Proverbs 15:3 The Lord sees everything and knows every thought. No evil thing will go unnoticed. No good thing will go unrewarded.
"...If that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming...The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers." St. Luke 12:45,46 The second coming of Christ will be swift and sure, full of shocks and surprises. Perhaps some of the most surprised will be His servants.
"He that believeth, on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." St. John 3:36 Here is what Jesus had to say about man's future. Everything that really counts is riding on what we do with Christ.
"...There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." St. Matthew 24:51 This is how Jesus described a future without God and apart from Heaven. "Choose you this day whom ye will serve."
"Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near." Isaiah 55:6 The risk of tomorrow is too great to ignore the important issues of today. This is your day.
"Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me..." St. John 7:34 The worst thing that can happen to a man is not for his prayers to go unanswered, but for his prayers not to be heard.
"And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?" I Corinthians 15:30 The person who won't stand up for Christ here won't stand a chance in Heaven. It is a risky thing to live in this world and ignore its Creator.
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27 The most sobering thought of life is that after it is all over, we must give an account of every minute of it.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 Everyone is paid by the master he serves. Life here is full of pay-backs. Eternity is full of play-backs with no take-backs.
