Orphanage and Children’s Home
Seen in the picture above are the orphans that Saint Matthew’s Churches supported for years. Right beside the children are all the workers for the Red Cross team as they welcomed the Ship of Compassion. This was no small undertaking to reach out to these orphans. It took many volunteers and long hours of work to provide good medical care for them and for all the children from the local communities, who desperately needed care. We were able to lovingly minister to thousands of children in Honduras, as the Lord enabled us.

One can see hope in the faces of these beautiful children, who were so very grateful for all that they had received. Many lives were transformed because of receiving love and proper care. One of the directors of Saint Matthew’s orphanage in Honduras is pictured in the middle of a group of the orphans, right next to the dwelling. Seeing these young children raising their hands in praise to God for their blessings was an awesome sight to see. Our hearts were truly touched by all these precious children. Their lives were changed because someone cared and was willing to act. It was only through God’s grace that Saint Matthew’s was able to reach these children in need.
This is a story in pictures of one of our orphans, Angel. This is what food, medicine, love, and care can do. The beautiful young lady in the long dress is Angel years later. The Ship of Compassion program was how this young lady’s life was saved. When Saint Matthew’s visited Honduras on our mission to help hurting children, we took her in and provided her the best care possible, for she was on the brink of dying. We felt compelled to bring Angel to our children’s home in Ft. Worth, Texas, so that she could thrive. As the picture shows, miracles can happen if we are willing to be God’s hands and feet in this world and reach out to those who truly need help.
While in Honduras, we took in these courageous triplets pictured with Dr. De Sio and a nurse – the triplets were getting much needed shots to bolster their immunity. The doctor was as gentle as possible, but you can see by the strained expression on their faces that they were not happy getting shots. Here in a later picture, when they were settling in at the Children’s Home in Ft. Worth, Texas, they were much happier and content in their new home. God wonderfully blessed the triplets and the other children from Honduras that lived at the Children’s Home. They were given a great opportunity to make it in life, but most importantly they were able to regularly hear a loving Gospel message.
