What Do We Believe? The Scriptures

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be verbally inspired by God and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and conduct. (II Peter 1:20-21, II Timothy 3:16)

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its Author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is and will remain to the end of the world.

The Bible speaks with authority because it is the word of God. It is the final rule for faith and practice because it is the inspired and trustworthy witness to the mighty acts of God in self-revelation and redemption, all brought to fulfillment in the life, teachings, and saving work of Jesus Christ. It reveals the mind of Christ and teaches the meaning of His Lordship. In its unique and unified disclosure of the will of God for mankind, the Bible is the final authority in pointing persons to Christ and in guiding them in all matters of Christian faith.
